Slashdot Recap
Slashdot has had several really good (and common-interest) posts over the past few days. I was simply too lazy to post each of them individually, so here is a little of the "best-of" from the past week:
- History of Star Wars Video Games--Need I say more?
- Off-the-Record Messaging released, which includes (for the first time, to my knowledge) the ability to both assure someone that an encrypted message came from you, but to still be able to deny that that same encrypted message came from you after a conversation--this, of course, is important for all my super-secret, sensitive communications, when I might later need plausible deniability.
- British "Secret Agents Hold Code-Breaking Contest"
- Somebody posted a way to make a cheap teleprompter--genius! (not to mention oh-so-practical)
- OpenOffice 2.0 Preview released - (Note--OpenOffice.org is a free and open-source office suite, extraordinarily competitive and compatible with Microsoft's Office, especially for being free software. If you haven't heard about it, it's certainly worth a shot.)
- Some ways to avoid spam on Gmail
- Self-Heating Coffee
